LEGO AT-ST Walker (75417): A Pricey but Iconic Build?

Your wallet is already bracing itself for this one. LEGO's latest offering, the AT-ST Walker (75417), has landed in India, and it's bringing that familiar UCS-level price tag with it. This isn't a casual impulse buy; this is a commitment.

The AT-ST Walker, a staple of the Imperial forces in the Star Wars saga, is finally getting the Ultimate Collector Series treatment. At 1,513 pieces, it’s a substantial build, promising an immersive experience for adult fans. The detail promised is high, with a focus on replicating the vehicle's iconic features. From the distinctive, sturdy legs that allow it to traverse any terrain, to the opening top hatch revealing a detailed two-person cockpit, LEGO has clearly aimed for authenticity.

You can customise your display piece too. The head of the AT-ST can be rotated, the shutters over the viewports can be opened and closed, and the laser cannons can be adjusted. This level of articulation is a welcome addition for those who want to pose their builds dynamically. It's designed to be a centerpiece, a showstopper for any Star Wars collection.

Accompanying the main build is an information plaque, a standard feature for UCS sets, which adds a touch of display-ready class. More excitingly, it comes with a unique AT-ST Driver minifigure, complete with the Imperial crest on its arms and a blaster pistol. While it's only one minifigure, it’s a specific character tied to the vehicle, making it a fitting bonus.

The build process itself is described as an immersive, rewarding, and creative challenge. This is what we expect from a UCS set. It's not just about the final product; it's about the journey. The large-scale model is intended to be a relaxing, mindful activity, a welcome escape from the everyday hustle.

But let's talk about the elephant in the room: the price. The original MRP stands at a formidable ₹21,899. Toycra is currently offering it at ₹15,329, a significant reduction, but still a considerable investment. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. This is where the decision to buy becomes a bit more nuanced.

At review, it was priced at ₹15,329 on Toycra. Verdict: WAIT.

Standard disclaimer: rich readers can skip the verdict and just buy it. Toycra's prepaid-only, so the rest of us will be here doing sums before we hit checkout.

While the 30% saving is attractive, it brings the price down to a level that still requires serious consideration. For many, this will be a purchase that requires careful budgeting, perhaps spread over a few months if you opt for EMI options. The sheer scale and detail are undeniable, and for a die-hard Star Wars UCS collector, this AT-ST Walker is likely a must-have. The build is complex, the design is faithful, and the display potential is high. However, for the casual fan or someone on a tighter budget, the price point, even with the discount, might be a deterrent. It's a premium product with a premium price, and only you can decide if the UCS experience and the iconic AT-ST are worth this level of investment right now.

Keep building, keep dreaming... and don't let your wallet see your LEGO wishlist.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.

On that bombshell, bubyee.
