LEGO 40958 Christmas Stocking Announced; Release Date Set for October 1st

August has arrived, and with it, the first whispers of the festive season. LEGO has officially unveiled the 40958 Christmas Stocking, a new seasonal set slated for release on October 1st. This isn't just any holiday decoration; it boasts an intricate tiled pattern on the front and a delightful array of seasonal items peeking out from the top. For fans of minifigures, there's an exclusive figure included, reportedly inspired by the classic Nutcracker tale.

The set comes with 342 pieces. While the exact price in India is yet to be confirmed, the international retail price is set at £29.99, US$34.99, or €34.99. Some initial reactions suggest this might be a tad on the expensive side when compared to other LEGO seasonal offerings, but the inclusion of an exclusive minifigure and a detailed build could justify the cost for dedicated collectors. The design elements, including layered reds and a gingerbread tree cookie reminiscent of Little Debbie's iconic treats, have already sparked discussion.

The included minifigure, while clearly holiday-themed, has drawn some comment regarding its appearance, with fans debating whether it's a Nutcracker, a marching band member, or perhaps even a Holiday Elf. Regardless of its precise identity, it adds a unique character to the set. The set's overall design aims to capture that cozy, festive feeling, making it a potential centrepiece for holiday displays. Given the October 1st release date, it’s perfectly timed for those who like to get a head start on their holiday preparations.

Availability at Indian retailers like Toycra and MyBrickHouse is not yet confirmed, and a 4-6 week lag from the global launch is expected. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

With the price point being a potential sticking point for some, and the set only just announced, it might be prudent to wait and see if any Indian pricing becomes available or if any early discounts surface. However, for those who can't resist the call of a new holiday set, especially with an exclusive minifigure, it's definitely one to keep an eye on.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
