LEGO 40874 Santa's Holiday Countdown: Christmas in November?

The wallet already feels lighter, and it's barely November. LEGO's 2026 festive lineup is starting to surface, and the 40874 Santa's Holiday Countdown is here to make sure your home is decked out for the holidays well in advance. This set packs 873 pieces into a diorama featuring Santa and his chimney, but apparently, the countdown feature is a bit of an afterthought.

The set aims for a well-built Santa and chimney scene, a classic holiday tableau. However, the primary gimmick, the countdown feature, is described as somewhat pointless. This suggests that while the visual elements might be strong, the playability or interactive aspect doesn't quite hit the mark. It’s a common pitfall for holiday sets; sometimes, the focus shifts so hard to decoration that the actual 'building' experience suffers.

With 873 pieces, it’s a decent size for a seasonal offering, promising a satisfying build. However, the lack of any information on minifigures is a curious omission. Typically, holiday sets offer specific characters or figures that enhance the theme. The absence here might mean the focus is purely on the diorama itself, or perhaps the minifigure details are yet to be revealed. Given the 2026 release year, there's still time for more information to emerge.

At ₹6,499, that's 11kg of decent mangoes or four months of Spotify Premium. LEGO.in lists it for ₹6,499, though it may be out of stock. Toycra will likely stock it 4–6 weeks after global launch. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

The MRP is set at ₹5,700, which means the actual Indian retail price is higher than the recommended global price. This isn't unusual, but it does sting a bit when you're already looking at a significant outlay for a holiday set. For a set that's meant to be a festive centrepiece, the higher-than-MRP Indian price might make you pause. It’s definitely one to consider carefully as the festive season approaches, or perhaps to hold out for a potential sale.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
