Guillermo del Toro LEGO tribute “Love is in the Air (and the Water)” – what Indian fans need to know

Your wallet just sighed, because this romantic LEGO tribute has no Indian price tag to whisper about. The Brothers Brick site ran a piece on a fan‑built homage to Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar‑winning The Shape of Water. French builder Keyser Bricks, known for detailed movie recreations, has taken on the watery romance and turned it into a brick‑by‑brick love letter.

The build is not an official LEGO set. It lives in the realm of MOCs – custom creations that exist only in the builder’s garage and on YouTube. That means you won’t find a barcode, a retail box, or a LEGO‑issued product number. Instead, you get a series of pictures, a parts list (if the builder shares one), and a lot of admiration for the craftsmanship.

Keyser’s rendition captures the Cold War vibe that permeates the film. The pipes and cables that snake around the amphibious man’s tank are rendered with a surprising level of detail. The build also nods to the film’s iconic lab scenes, with a mix of matte black plates, transparent tubes, and a few bright red accents that hint at the secret experiments. For fans who love the blend of sci‑fi grit and fairy‑tale romance, it’s a satisfying visual treat.

Because this is a fan project, there is no official retail price, no availability in Indian LEGO stores, and no guaranteed kit you can order. If you’re keen on recreating it yourself, you’ll have to source the parts individually or hope the builder releases a printable guide. That adds a layer of cost and effort that most casual buyers would rather avoid.

The piece also highlights a broader trend: LEGO fans are increasingly looking beyond the usual superhero or space themes and embracing more personal, cinematic stories. It’s a welcome reminder that the bricks can tell any story, even one that swims beneath the surface.

No Indian store prices yet. Check MyBrickHouse and Toycra for availability. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. Expect a 4–6 week lag from any global release. If this tribute were officially sold in India, it would cost roughly the same as 12 months of Netflix Premium.

Verdict: IMPORT ONLY. Not in Indian stores — grey market or wait.

On that bombshell, bubyee.
